Early Life and Education
Born on April 6, 1964, Timothy James Walz is an American politician, former schoolteacher, and retired U.S. Army National Guardsman.
Walz attended Mankato State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in social science education and a Master of Arts degree in educational leadership.
Political Career
State Representative
Walz began his political career in 2006 when he was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives. He served in the House until 2014.
Congressman
In 2014, Walz was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Minnesota's 1st congressional district.
Governor
In 2018, Walz was elected Governor of Minnesota. He was re-elected in 2022.
