Severe Thunderstorms Possible Today and Tonight
Slight Risk of Severe Thunderstorms Forecast
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a slight risk of severe thunderstorms for parts of the country today and tonight. The risk area includes parts of the Midwest, South, and Northeast.
The NWS says that scattered severe thunderstorms are possible in the risk area. These storms could produce damaging winds, hail, and heavy rain.
What to Do if Severe Thunderstorms Are Forecast
If severe thunderstorms are forecast for your area, the NWS recommends that you take the following steps:
- Be aware of the weather forecast and be prepared to take shelter if necessary.
- If you are outside, seek shelter in a sturdy building or vehicle.
- Do not drive through flooded areas.
- Stay away from downed power lines.
- If you see a tornado, take cover immediately.
