Padres Win Third Straight, Giants Lose Fourth Of Five

Manny Machado homered twice, including a go-ahead, two-run shot in the fifth inning, and the San Diego Padres beat the San Francisco Giants 5-1 on Sunday.

Machado's first homer, a 408-foot solo shot off Giants starter Alex Cobb, gave the Padres a 1-0 lead in the second inning.

The Giants tied it in the third on Luis Gonzalez's RBI single, but Machado put the Padres back in front with his two-run homer off reliever John Brebbia in the fifth.

San Diego added two more runs in the sixth on RBI singles by Jurickson Profar and Ha-seong Kim.

Padres starter Sean Manaea allowed one run on five hits and two walks in five innings to earn the win.

The Padres have won three straight and are now 19-19 on the season.

The Giants have lost four of their last five and are now 17-21.
