Melbourne Victory FC Downs Moreton Bay United FC 3-0 in Australia Cup Quarterfinals

A clinical Melbourne Victory FC side has booked their place in the semi-finals of the Australia Cup with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Moreton Bay United FC at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday night.

Victory started the match brightly and took the lead in the 18th minute when Jake Brimmer's cross was headed home by Chris Ikonomidis. The visitors doubled their advantage just before half-time when a powerful strike from Josh Brillante found the back of the net.

Moreton Bay came out with more purpose in the second half, but Victory's defence held firm and they extended their lead in the 75th minute when Robbie Kruse tapped home a cross from Ikonomidis.

The win sees Victory progress to the semi-finals of the Australia Cup, where they will face either Sydney FC or Melbourne City FC. Moreton Bay United's run in the competition comes to an end, but they can be proud of their performance in reaching the quarter-finals.
